Keep calm.... Meconium happens!
Keep Calm…. Meconium Happens! Meconium… Our fancy medical way of saying “baby poo”. This is the greenish/black substance we sometimes see when the waters break or that god awful, tar like first nappy. A Midwives Tale...
I really have been in two minds about whether to post this or not. I really don't want it to seem damning in any way. But as International Day of the Midwife approaches (May 5th) I felt someone should really explain what a real shift can be like. I don't necessarily mean tragedy or drama, it usually means high ward activity and low staffing levels. The pressure of bouncing back!
Can we all just stop talking about "Getting your body back”…..? Where exactly is it supposed to have gone? Don’t you just hear this all the time. It’s on Instagram, it’s in magazines, on tv, it strategically used for bootcamps and workout or diet regimes. Is it just me who absolutely HATES it! I especially despise its use in relation to “bouncing back after baby”, as if you have to bounce back to that woman that you were before you had a baby, or whatever life changing event
